SUMMARY:DAN | UHMS Fall 2024 Diving & Hyperbaric Medicine CME
DESCRIPTION:Continuing Medical Education (CME)\n\n\n\nDAN’s continuing medical education (CME) staff strives to assist physicians and other health care providers in obtaining new information that will lead to better quality and availability of care to the diving community worldwide. The internationally recognized resources of DAN and its affiliation with numerous institutions serving hyperbaric medicine provide cutting-edge medical and research information \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDiving and Hyperbaric Medicine Courses\n\n\n\nDAN has hosted the DAN Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine course since 1983. The accredited courses usually include lectures\, case presentations\, support materials\, and both formal and informal discussion sessions with faculty. \n\n\n\nJointly provided by Divers Alert Network and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society\, the course is designed primarily for physicians. However\, emergency medical personnel\, paramedics\, nurses and professionals\, as well as instructors\, divemasters and nonmedical\, diving-related personnel with an interest in dive medicine may also find the course valuable. \n\n\n\nThe program focuses on diving and hyperbaric medicine with emphasis on the latest scientific literature in the field. The course features lectures\, case presentations and support materials as well as both formal and informal discussion sessions with faculty. \n\n\n\nThrough lectures\, case presentations\, printed support materials\, and both formal and informal discussion sessions with the faculty\, it is anticipated that attendees completing this course will be able to discuss and clinically apply facts relevant to scheduled topics. Upon completion\, course participants should also benefit from a broader understanding of current issues and increased familiarity with recent\, relevant scientific literature in diving and hyperbaric medicine. Learning will be reinforced by case reports from the DAN Medical Services Call Center (MSCC) Quality Assurance archives\, examples from recent and ongoing diving research\, and from the personal experience of the faculty. \n\n\n\nAt the end of this course attendees should be able to discuss and clinically apply facts relevant to: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMedical and physical fitness to dive\n\n\n\nDiving safety issues and current research\n\n\n\nHyperbaric medicine: applications\, protocols\, and mechanisms\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDecompression physiology and pathophysiology\n\n\n\nDiving injuries and their management\n\n\n\nControversies in diving medicine\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFaculty\n\n\n\n\n\n(Click to view presenters)+\n\n\n\n\nJames Holm\, MD\, FUHMStaff Physician Center for Hyperbaric MedicineVirginia Mason Franciscan Health\, Seattle\, WA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor information about future courses\, email us at cme@dan.org \n\n  \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCME Statements\n\n\n\n\n\n(Click to view)+\n\n\n\n\nAccreditation Statement: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society and Divers Alert Network.
