It’s easy to enroll your students in DAN Student Medical Expense Coverage. Best of all, coverage for dive-related injuries occurring in and out of the water becomes effective immediately upon enrollment.

Step 1: Log In To Your DAN Account

Log in to your DAN member account and select Enroll Student Divers on the left side of the screen. 

Step 2: Enter Student Information

Enter your student’s name, date of birth, and email address. Then click the Add Student button.

Step 3: Email Confirmation & Digital Card

Students will receive enrollment confirmation and their digital membership card by email.

Who can enroll their students in DAN Student Membership?

Businesses with an active Business Membership can enroll their students in the Student Membership program.

Why doesn’t my DAN member number come up when enrolling?

You must have an active individual membership and be designated as a dive professional in our system for your member number to come up when  enrolling a student in Student Medical Expense Coverage. Contact DAN Member Services at +1-919-684-2948 or for assistance.

What does DAN Student Medical Coverage include?

DAN Student Medical Expense Coverage covers any diving activity, in or out of the water, that is necessary to meet standards for receiving open water scuba diving certification or entry-level certification for breath-hold diving. Covered activities include but are not limited to donning and doffing dive equipment, swimming, diving, and traveling by charter boat to a diving destination. “Diving activities” begin the moment students lift their BCDs and continue until the moment their equipment is placed on the ground. For breath-hold diving and snorkeling, “diving activities” last from the moment students enter the water until the moment they exit the water.

How much does DAN Student Membership cost?

DAN Student Membership is provided at no cost to you or your students and is fully subsidized by DAN.

When do DAN Student Member benefits become effective?

Benefits for your students are effective as soon as you enroll them. Upon enrollment, students will receive a confirmation email that includes their Student Membership card and member number.

Can students upgrade DAN Student Membership?

Yes — students may become full DAN members at any time during their training by upgrading to Regular Membership or Enhanced Membership. Students can log in to their Member Portal to upgrade.

When does DAN Student medical expense coverage expire?

DAN Student Medical Expense Coverage expires when your student’s last certifying dive is completed, or 180 days after enrollment, whichever comes first.

Does this program cover free-dive training?

Yes — the DAN Student Medical Expense Coverage program is available to entry-level breath-hold divers.

This policy is issued by your Risk Retention Group. Your Risk Retention Group may not be subject to all of the insurance laws and regulations of your state. State insurance insolvency guaranty funds are not available for your Risk Retention Group. Coverage under this insurance applies only to accidents which take place during your coverage period. Notice of an accident must be given promptly in accordance with the terms of this policy.
