Dive medicine is an integral part of wilderness medicine discussions. DAN proudly participated in the 2025 WMS Summer Conference, which brought together leaders from various disciplines to explore new frontiers in wilderness medicine.

The AUAS/DAN Diving Medicine Scholarship is now accepting applications. This annual scholarship provides an opportunity for researchers to contribute to the field of diving medicine.

As part of our mission to help divers everywhere, DAN has established multiple regional language-specific emergency hotlines with local phone numbers. DAN is expanding emergency hotline support in Indonesia.

Many freedivers are familiar with the idea of a squeeze, but how and why this phenomenon occurs is not yet fully understood. In 2023, DAN partnered with University of California San Diego to survey breath-hold divers about their experiences with lung injury (“squeeze”) events.

DAN took part in the 2025 Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society Annual Scientific Meeting (UHMS ASM), which convened experts in aerospace, undersea, and hyperbaric medicine.
