DURHAM, NC – July 3, 2024 – Whether you dive close to home or in the most remote places on Earth, Divers Alert Network has your back. Since 1980, DAN has supported divers with an emergency hotline, first aid training, dive accident insurance, and more.
Diving is unique — no other sport involves the physiological challenges diving does. And because standard health insurance policies may not cover the costs of a dive accident, DAN is here. For divers who are just starting out there’s student membership, which is available at no cost to the student or their instructor. And for divers who travel to the edges of the Earth, DAN is with you all the way.
Recently, DAN staff had the opportunity to sit down with DAN member and filmmaker Andy Casagrande to discuss how he prepares for his diving expeditions.
For him, preparation means being fit to dive, developing an emergency action plan, and having the right dive accident insurance — long before getting on the boat.
“DAN is at the forefront of dive safety, dive insurance, and dive medicine,” Casagrande said. “Without DAN, I think Shark Week would be way sketchier. If you board a boat and they don’t have emergency oxygen or the DAN number, you’re on the wrong boat.”
