DAN Announces Support for Rescue Diver Ready™ Initiative

DAN announced its support as a founding collaborator for Rescue Diver Ready, a new initiative to help divers become better prepared for safe diving.

DAN’s mission to serve divers in need and promote dive safety aligns with Rescue Diver Ready’s aim to strengthen diver preparedness. The new initiative helps divers move beyond their initial certification and pursue rescue-readiness as an ongoing commitment. It aims to advance divers’ preparedness through education, training, community engagement, and industry partnerships.

“At DAN, we believe dive safety is not a single course, checklist, or certification,” said Cliff Richardson, president and CEO of DAN. “It is a culture that must be practiced, reinforced, and carried into every dive. Rescue Diver Ready reflects exactly the kind of industry collaboration needed to strengthen that culture. By encouraging divers to build and refresh rescue skills throughout their diving journey, this initiative helps create more confident, capable, and prepared dive buddies, professionals, and communities around the world. DAN is proud to support this effort and to stand alongside partners who share our commitment to making safety a standard, not a goal.”

Rescue Diver Ready’s founding industry collaborators provide distinct capabilities: DAN, promoting dive safety; PADI®, focusing on training; and Garmin®, representing dive technology. DAN brings dive medicine expertise, industry-leading research, emergency assistance infrastructure, and specialized safety education to the initiative.

“Rescue Diver Ready strives to unite industry leaders, educators, and divers around a shared mission: making every diver rescue-ready,” said Natalee van Staden, founder and CEO of Rescue Diver Ready. “DAN’s decades of dive safety and emergency response experience make the organization a natural partner for our diver preparedness initiative. We’re grateful for DAN’s expertise and support.”
